Lyrics

Erin Shores

Scattered clouds darken the moor
Northern winds blow on the shore
Spirits of the past cast their shadows on the sea
Reminding me what this land means to me

Shadows drifting in the sky
Beyond the emerald horizon

A gentle mist embraced the hills
As we walked through the fields
Heading to the peaceful lakes of Killarney
While the sun plays hide and seek over the Black Valley

Shadows drifting in the sky
Beyond the emerald horizon
Shadows drifting in the sky
Beyond the misty mountains

I long to walk again these lonely roads
Surrounded by infinite shades of green
I know photographs will always fade away
But I'll never forget all the colors I have seen

The moon's getting brighter
As the tide is coming closer
We are far away from anything we used to know

Shifting waters all around
Mirror of countless stars
Soothed by the liquid sound of this constant flow

Echoes of distant faeries
Whispering from the glen
We are far away from anything we used to know

A night to remember
From Erin's northern shores
I wouldn't trade these memories for anything in the world

Fading Away

I can’t pretend that I feel ok with you
Each time I think I still don’t exist for you
A face without a name wanders in my head
I can’t be myself, I am so afraid

Silence, distance, remnants of you and I

You are so close to me but a million miles away
You can’t hear my call there is nothing left to say
I can’t realise that’s happening to me
I’m wasting my time in hypocrisy

Silence, distance, remnants of you and I

Wonders fill my life
And it’s tearing me apart
There’s no way to hide
The wounds of my heart

Where are you now ?

A voice echoes in my mind
“It’s time to leave
There’s nothing to find
She has nothing more to give”

Where are you now ?

The rain keeps falling down on me
But I’m still the same, a drop in the sea
Letters of your name can wander in my head
I'm still the same and it will never fade away

Memento Mori

I'm staring at the window
The rain is pouring down
Playing with the jigsaw of my memories
In the silent afterglow

Time always heal
Illusions we feel
The emptiness in our eyes
The fear to live our lives

Dreams have turned to ashes
And hopes have changed to dust
Wasted moments weill never return
Only memories will always remain

Time always heal
Illusions we feel
The emptiness in our eyes
The fear to break the lies

But silence reveals
The way we all feel
The emptiness of our smiles
The fear to realize

The ghost of the past lies in your mind
A shrouded witness of all that you left behind
Do you remember all the buried memories?
Hidden remnants of all your silent fears

Time passes by
Waiting for a change that never happens
Time passes by
Reaching out the point of no return

You were told that there’s beauty in each day
But a ten-years-old ear is so easy to betray
You were fooled by your disbelief
Carried by the winds like a leaf

Time passes by
Waiting for a change that never happens
Time passes by
Reaching out the point of no return

Remember when you were young and life seemed so easy
The gentle breeze from the shore swept your doubts and fears
Now you wander around like a prisoner of time
Trying to escape your past but fearing your days to come

Time passes by
Waiting for a change that never happens
Time passes by
Reaching out the point of no return

Reviews

Just about everything about The Light Beyond the Shades is either a refinement or a marked improvement over Spleen Arcana’s previous record. The three compositions are loaded with all kinds of vintage sounds from Hammond Organ, Minimoog, Solina, Fender Rhodes and the already mentioned Mellotron. The five year gap has certainly been put to good use. Fans of symphonic prog will find a lot here to enjoy and appreciate. Highly recommended.
