Setting up a new home studio

New home studio in progress

I’m taking a break from demo recordings as I’m currently moving from a place to another and setting up my new home studio (picture above). I need to get back all my gear (Preamp, mics, Rme Multiface, Adam A7 and keyboards) and then I’ll start to work again on the demo process. It was great to see David after Transatlantic’s gig in Paris (which was truly awesome by the way) and talk about Spleen Arcana’s second album and how we’ll record his drumkit (oh yes, as far as David likes the new songs, he’ll join the arcana once more for a second album). I can’t wait to work on these new songs again and start recording sessions as soon as I can!

Koch Loadbox II

For SA’s second album, I plan to record electric guitars in a different way. I was about to take the “direct recording road”, without my amp but then, I discovered another road : The Loadbox road! I received a Koch Loadbox which allows to plug any amp head and then record it without cabinet! I absolutely don’t know how it sounds and if the speaker simulation will be better than my Teck 21 pedals but I just couldn’t leave my Fender Bassman 70 head alone. I’m curious to hear how it will sound with the “black witch”…

Stay tuned

What about giving us your feedback on this Koch Loadbox here and/or on AudioFanzine? It is quite cheaper than the Two Notes built by Torpedo (http://fr.audiofanzine.com/simulateur-ampli-guitare/two-notes/Torpedo-VB-101/), loved by its owners, but how is the quality?

The quality is great and I think there’s a lot of features! But I guess that HP simulation is better on the Torpedo but we are not in the same price range at all.

Anyway, I only used to try my Fender Bassman 70 directly in my soundcard but as I plan to sell my Bassman, I’ll sell the Loadbox as well ;)

I didn’t tried the loadbox function indeed as seen as I don’t have any guitar cabinet here. People use it more for this than for direct recording.
