In the last few weeks, my playlist is quite easy to sum up! It consists of The Von Hertzen Brothers and Pink Floyd. I discovered The Von Hertzen Brothers thanks to Last FM and I have been instantly blown away by the first song I heard (I don’t remember if it was “Freedom Fighter” or “Spanish 411″. Their second album, Approach (2006), and last one, Love Remains The Same (2008) are fantastic!! I’m not really into modern prog rock anymore but this kind of “prog-related” band mesmerize me!! It’s hard to describe their music but it’s very melodic and emotional, guitar orientated but with really good keyboards parts too. It doesn’t sound too vintage but neither too modern if you see what I mean. Sometimes, it makes me think of Pure Reason Revolution or Pink Floyd. I thought that my album of 2008 would be Marillion or Neal Morse but it’s by far Love Remains The Same by the Von Hertzen Brothers!!
Apart from them, I’m still into classic prog rock, hum classic albums I should say: Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall. And dvds like Remember That Night from David Gilmour and Live At Pompei as well. This music is so great that I feel totally useless to say more…
Oh and I’m really into Steve Hillage’s Fish Rising at the moment. The first 16 minutes epic called “Solar Musick Suite” is incredible!! Steve Hillage seems to be really underestimated as a guitarist…
That’s my playlist but what is yours? ;)
