Do you buy music which can be found for free?

Free music

Free music becomes like a new model today. A lot of independant bands (and even some famous bands actually) offer their music for free and you have been 1100 people in two months to download Spleen Arcana’s first album. I don’t know if some of these people, who downloaded my album for free, bought it on CD, well, I know some of you did to support my project (thanks again) but it’s hard to know what happened behind this “1100″ number. Please answer this poll even if you didn’t download my album, your opinion on this topic would be really interesting. Thanks

I got your CD for free from your website, but then I bought it on CD baby
I sometimes download the “big” bands just to see what they are up to these days—but I wouldn’t usually buy their CDs anyway–because it’s usually corporate garbage—I might download U2, Metallica, Moby,Coldplay, etc—but I’d never buy it even if we didn’t have the Internet. But, I always buy independent music —esp. prog like yours or Marillion, Black Bonzo,Overhead, Wobbler,Magic Pie,Pineapple Thief, etc.
These bands are impossible to find over here in Asia where I live! Thanks for the download–it was like taking your music for a test drive—I liked it a lot, so I bought it! Too bad they don’t have MP3s that bands can give away for a 30 day trial offer (then they stop working), after that you have to buy it if you like it! Keep on making good music!

Thank you very much Tim for your testimony. Fortunately, there are still some music lovers like you who support independant music.

Your idea of a 30 day trial offer is really interesting, I’ve never seen this yet…
