Playlist September 2009These days, I mostly listen to the last cds I bought, all the albums in the picture on the left are new in my cd collection. I received my signed preorder of Guilt Machine. I was really curious to hear this new Arjen Lucassen’s music. Well, it sounds like Ayreon with one voice (a great, versatile, voice by the way) and a different, more subtle, drums playing. It’s not so different and I like it for being not so different!

Beside Guilt Machine, I’m in a Santana’s mood. I’ve always loved his guitar playing and all those latin percussions everywhere… It sounds like nothing else! Festival is not his best one but I like it, it brings some light when needed and Moonflower is fantastic!

Still into vintage epic synths music too with Force Majeure by Tangerine Dream (strangely one of my favourite), Heaven And Hell by Vangelis and Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre. Epic, spacy and organic… I can’t get enough of this music!

Feel free to share your playlist!

  6. I have become VERY actively involved with listening to promotion copies to evaluate them for potential airplay. I do this for one radio station and several presenters at other stations. Since I always have between 100-200 artists on my “active list,” I spend a great deal of listening time with those.

When I want a break to listen to something that I can never hear too much, the following three artists are the first that come to mind:

Tony Carey/Planet P Project (I also help with promotions for his work)
Steve Thorne (I manage his official forum and help with promotions)
Irina & Storm (from Bosnia; more people from other parts of the world should hear this band.)

  7. Laurent : Great playlist!!

Julianne : I have to listen to Steve Thorne, I don’t know his music yet but I read about it many times.

  8. Anaon: Steve’s third album, “Into the Ether,” will be released on 19 October, so there’s something for next month’s playlist. His first two albums (not to be missed either) are on GEP Records. Go to http://www.steve-thorne.co.uk, http://www.myspace.com/stevethorne, or my place, http://www.myspace.com/bluesridge, for details and links to pre-order.

Btw, can’t wait to hear Pain of Salvation’s upcoming EP, and album as well, also Devin Townsend, TRANSATLANTIC and some other releases.

And yeah… I almost forgot… New Redemption’s album (Snowfall on Judgement Day) is freaking amazing. Don’t hesitate to with that one.

    All the best,
    Nick

  10. Great playlist as well!! I don’t know this Tangerine Dream, how is it?

How do you like Dredg’s album?

  11. Those Tangerine Dream, “Flame” is full length EP with more than 40 minutes, a forerunner of the new album called “CHANDRA – The Phantom Ferry Part I”, another from their Eastgate series. And I liked it. Recommendations.
About new dredg… Well it’s stunning, I’m more than satisfied, the expectations are surmounted.
At last, I’m adding new Transatlantic to above playlist and two more releases that I expect eagerly until the end of the year is new POS EP “Linoleum” and acoustic album of Marillion called “Less is More”.
