Mi Audio Crunchbox

MI Audio Crunch Box

MI Audio CrunchboxThe MI Audio Crunchbox is probably the pedal that I use the most on The Field Where She Died. I took me some time to find a good distortion pedal, I tried a lot of different ones, I really likes my Marshall Shredmaster but I sold it and since this time, I was always searching for the right distortion for my needs. I’m not saying that the Crunchbox has the same sound but I really like and it’s quite a “Marshall in a box” kind of pedal. Don’t trust its name, this pedal delivers a lot more than just “crunch”, at full gain, it can produce a huge distortion great for hard rock or even heavy metal.

You can hear it a lot on Trample On Me, used with my Strat and Les Paul (left and right channel) or A Kind Of Heaven for which I only used my Strat.

It’s a great distortion pedal, a bit noisy (mostly because of my single coils) but really great, with a lot of gain if necessary, and this nice “Marshall taste”. I like because its distortion is not too dirty if it makes sense. If it’s quite similar, I prefer it to the Proco Rat.
