I tried various flanger stompboxes, an Ibanez FL9 and a Boss F2 vintage for example, which are interesting but it’s just that I didn’t find the sound that I was looking for. Arion is quite famous for its warm chorus, the SCH-1, but less for its other effects like this SFL-1. I just gave it a try as it’s so low cost and by chance, I was very surprised by the sound of this black plastic box! No noise, a really nice, organic flanger and above all, I could find easily the right settings for my sounds, the high rate settings that I use the most (during the chorus of “Tears Are Made To Flow” for example). Some months later, it’s still on my pedalboard, which is a sign! I think it’s a great low cost alternative to other famous flangers!
