The best 2010 release so far for me is Ommadawn by Mike Oldfield, yes the new deluxe edition released in June 2010. I preordered the signed – limited to 250 copies – edition which is awesome (even if I wait for two months and this preorder was a huge epic fail as you can read here).
Anyway, it’s great to hear Ommadawn sounding differently, I can’t say that I prefer the 2010 mix but it’s fresh to the ears and I love the b-sides (I didn’t know them actually). The packaging with all these old pictures is just perfect! I can’t really explain how much I love this album. It’s just a very moving masterpiece for me.
Another great preorder is Porcupine Tree’s new dvd called Anesthetize. Excellent book (same one as Insurgentes deluxe edition but with Porcupine Tree beautiful live pictures) and the dvd is just essantial for any Porcupine Tree fan. Oh and by the way, Gavin Harrison is the best drummer out there (well ok, with Neil Peart ah ah)!
